I’m starting to like this less and less as time goes on. I cant really figure out what i don’t like about it though. The red looks like a wing but i think i might like to make it more realistic. We’ll see how it changes over the week.

check it out

I want to put this link up to help all the GD students with photography. Obviously photography is a big part of graphic design and being able to take a great picture will help you more than you know. Since most people don’t take to traditional teaching methods i think this site is great. its run by photographers named Jarid Polin and Greg Cazillo they have tons of tutorial videos and product reviews, they have a lot of photo editing tips and and they are willing to answer any questions you might have. i emailed Jared just the other day about something and he got back to me the same day and was very helpful.

I love this site not only because its helpful but because its entertaining. Its very informative and helpful but at the same time its not dry and boring. I also love it because there not talking about wedding photography or sports photography, They do cover that but they touch on a large range of different things. Jared talks about taking pictures of bands at a show and a lot of other situations that can be applied to your photography what every style it is. plus they have giveaways every once in a while.

…… one more thing i like about the site is that Jared and Greg will make a video of them editing the same photo. They go through what they do and why the do it and you can see two totally different styles and the photos they use for the videos are not there own. you can send them a photo that you have taken and they will edit it and you can see what they would do to it. I think its a great site iv gotten a lot of great information from these guys and i hope that you all check it out and get the same from it.

If you want to see any of Jareds work his portfolio is on the site.

Sorry for the huge post there’s just a lot about this site that i like.

exactitude

http://exactitudes.com/index.php?/series/overview/23

I’m not even sure what to say about this website lol. As pointless as it is it’s definitely interesting. You wouldn’t think there was so many ways to classify people just by the way they look and dress.

Its also fun to see the different styles that have come and gone since this website was started. The colours and designs are really out there.

I think the best part of that website has to be the British guy talking about these groups of people. though very very stereotypical its really kind of funny.

Definitely worth checking out!

A Blog About A Blog

http://wegraphics.net/blog/tutorials/photoshop/create-a-fantasy-horror-scene-in-photoshop/

I found this blog on on youthedesigner.com and it really stuck out for me. I don’t know why but iv always really likes spooky eerie pictures. Which is odd because i hate scary movies. maybe its because my favorite holiday is Halloween.

Anyway, this is a tutorial blog on how to make your own spooky Halloween pictures using Photoshop. As a design student I love the Idea. Its another way learn more about the programs I’m going to be working with and learn how to use them in a way that might not be touched on in class. In an industry controlled by the adobe creative suite programs I think knowing how to use all those programs in every way puts you ahead of the game.

KNOW HOW TO USE YOUR TOOLS!

Brand loyalty

http://www.thedesignencyclopedia.org/brand_loyalty

Brand loyalty is just that, “a consumer’s preference to purchase a specific brand in a product category”. I guess i always knew about this but i didn’t know they had a specific name for it. After reading this i realized the extend of my brand loyalty. I love Oakley sunglasses and refuse to wear any other brand of sunglasses. I have brand loyalty to Vaughn for most of my goalie equipment and i wont go to any company other that Draxxus for my paintball pants.

All of these companies did whats needed to acquire brand loyalty; they draw you in with there adds and popularity and you stay for the quality of the product. Brand loyalty can also be acquired just by being expensive. Some people buy from a company simply because it costs a lot of money and it will make them look better in the public eye. Quality doesn’t matter to some people as long as it makes them look better than Joe Blow down the street.

…… DON’T BE THAT GUY!!!!! no one likes THAT GUY.
